We’ve all been there. We think we’re well on our way towards a specific goal – whether it’s a new career or a new lease on life – when all of a sudden disaster strikes! We have a setback. Perhaps you didn’t capture the heart of your crush, the promotion fell through, or somehow your perfect plan just didn’t work out.
Disappointment is only human. However, knowing how to accept, manage, and strategize beyond disappointment is the real key to success!
Here are some excellent tips to enable you to stay on track, remain motivated, and defeat your disappointments so that you can overcome them and reap your success:
1. Accept reality. Disappointment is a necessary part of life. In order to experience success, every person must face setbacks or disappointment sometime in their life. The reality of life gives us the polarity of setbacks and successes to better appreciate our wins. Such setbacks also encourage us to strive harder to achieve our goals.
2. Accept relativity. Facing up to the fact that life will always bring trials to overcome will help you beat disappointment in your current mission. Hindsight will inevitably show you that no setback is as big as you thought it was at the time.
3. Do not dwell. When you are hit with a challenge to obtaining your goal, it can be very easy to sink into disappointment. If you find yourself having a pity party, pull yourself up with some positive thinking. Above all else, do not dwell on the last snafu in your struggle to succeed. Dwelling on your disappointment will not change the fact that it happened.
4. Create realistic expectations. Like many people today, you may be harboring an unrealistic expectation of yourself. Perhaps you had this inspiring idea to change your life in some grand way. Naturally, you want to achieve your goal now and without anything less than stellar performance! However, realistically, you must recognize that achieving your goals may take some time. You can always adjust your expectations higher and higher as you conquer new goals!
5. Learn from your mistakes. When a setback occurs, the first thing you’d like to do might be to toss in the towel on the whole enterprise! However, a much wiser person bent on success will acknowledge the disappointment as a learning experience.
6. Stay positive. Lastly, you can surely find your success and win your prize by obliterating disappointment with positive thoughts. Know that you will obtain your goal! Pessimistic thoughts can swallow you whole if you let them, forcing you to delay or give up your dreams altogether.
Even though disappointment may creep into your life when you least expect it, you can take it in stride by following these techniques. Setbacks don’t define your life; it’s how you react to them that will determine your success. When you face disappointment, learn from the situation, deal with it positively, and confidently move forward toward your goal. Success is yours!

What I’d like to address here in today’s blog post is how to not lose yourself in a sea of anxiety and stress.
Better yet, how to cherish yourself despite your challenging circumstances.
If there is one thing I now very well, it’s fear, anxiety, stress and tension.
What I also know very well is how to deal with it, live with it, grow from it and use it.
To be able to effectively leverage the anxiety and stress in our lives, we must first make sure we don’t lose site of our self worth and personal value.
So, does life seem to be a struggle for you? Do you feel overwhelmed and frustrated much of the time? Do you wish you could experience something better? Fortunately, you can enjoy the exciting life you deserve.
Success is available to you despite challenging circumstances. It’s important to remember, also, that your self-worth is not defined by your circumstances.
What holds you back? Take some time today to question the beliefs you hold that limit your potential. If you look at a challenging circumstance as a wall that’s impossible to climb, you need a fresh perspective. Within you is everything you need to thrive and excel. The more you question the validity of your limiting beliefs, the more success you’ll experience in your life.
Think of a circumstance in your life that you believe is preventing you from something you want. Write it down, then get ready to challenge that limiting belief. If you do, you’ll begin to move toward the success you deserve.
Use these strategies to maintain a positive self-worth, regardless of your circumstances:
1. Find the cause. What is the cause of the circumstance in your life? Sometimes, limiting beliefs can serve as warning signs that help you avoid danger. What can you learn from this so you avoid triggering a similar situation in the future?
2. Get past the blame game. You can often be your own worst critic. Fortunately, negative self-talk often has very little basis in reality. Choose to replace the doubts of your inner critic with more productive thinking.
3. Cut yourself some slack. Recognize that you’re human. Everyone makes mistakes, but your attitude determines your altitude in life. You are valuable regardless of your present predicament. You are worthwhile even when you slip up or falter. Your circumstances simply provide feedback and an opportunity to learn and grow.
4. Make the most of it. When you recognize that you’re valuable despite your circumstances, you’ll begin to make the most of every opportunity. Stumbling blocks you face can become stepping stones to the success you deserve, simply by changing what you focus on.
5. Ask for help. Loved ones and friends often see strengths in you that go without notice. Ask them what they believe your strengths are. This is where your self-worth is found. Everyone has something of value to contribute.
6. Live one day at a time. Despite your best efforts, some days simply provide one frustration after another. When this happens, you have a choice. You can let your circumstances defeat you, or you can choose a more positive perspective.
Resolve today to find your strengths, learn from your difficult circumstances, and experience the joy you were created to experience. Instead of tying your self-worth to your circumstances, choose to see things as they really are. You were created with unique talents and gifts. When you find those gifts within yourself and put them to use, you’ll know how valuable you truly are.
My life has remarkable worth.
I am an individual created for a grand purpose. I am the only one in this world who can do what I am called to do.
There are people who love me more than they are able to express. My family, my friends, and my colleagues think the world of me. Even if we fail to see eye to eye at times, they still have great respect for me.
Even when I feel overlooked by others, I am still valuable. Many people notice my work, and those people may never get the chance to tell me. Life moves fast and some people simply don’t take the time to tell me that they notice my work.
My worth lies in my own view of myself. When I acknowledge that my Creator designed me for a noble purpose, my confidence grows.
My destiny is just waiting for me to fulfill it. There are amazing things in my future, which I work hard to attain. I refuse to allow discouragement to rob me of my destiny.
I am precious to my Creator. Even when it is hard for me to see my own worth, I know that I am valuable. Each morning, I turn the page of my past and embrace the new chance to make a change.
Today, I choose to see myself as a chest filled with treasure. I have more beauty than diamonds and more worth than gold.

Now, here’s is something that Martin Luther King once said…
“Take the first step in faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.”
In reflecting on this, realize that when we’re just starting out on something new and daring (like starting a new business, a new relationship, cutting off old toxic relationships, going back to school, changing habits, learning something new, etc), taking the first step may be unnerving.
We have to remember, however, that we don’t have to see the whole future spreading out in front of us.
We have to take the first step toward our goals whether we can see the next step or not. If we can’t take the first step, we’ll get nowhere standing still.

I live a life free from worry and fear.
I am brave and courageous, and I can do anything I put my mind to. Fear and worry pass me by because I am strong. I refuse to allow worries and fears to bother me or make a home in my thoughts.
I know I have control over my own destiny, and I choose to move into that destiny boldly and without hesitation. Running away solves nothing! I work toward my goals with courage and perseverance, creating a destiny of success.
Worries and fears are absent from my life. I let the past stay in the past, without regrets or worries to cloud my present. I focus on the wonders of each new day and I shrug off fear about the future, since I trust that good things will come. I am happy, content, and brave.
I take on tasks with strength and courage. I can accomplish my dreams because I bravely take chances and try new things that can push me forward toward my goals.
Regardless of what comes my way, I can handle it. Rather than fearing things I don’t understand, I learn the facts I need to ease my concerns. No weapon formed against me can prosper, as I am capable of overcoming any challenge. I banish fear, seek solutions, and boldly take action to get back on track.
Shedding the shackles of worry and fear gives me the freedom to live with all the gusto I’ve got so I can enjoy my life to the fullest!
Today, and everyday I AM brave, courageous, and bold in everything I do.

Looking for a proven path in overcoming challenges?
Well, one thing we all know for certain is that in life, we all will be challenged.
The real question is will you be overcome by your challenges or will you overcome your challenges.
Today, I present to you a handbook on “Overcoming Challenges.” I feel this quick guide will help steer you in the right direction.
The download link is at the bottom of this post. However, before you download your manual, please read this short post.
Whether your challenge is getting over regrets of your past, facing the giants in your present or worrying about your future. I believe this free manual will be your ticket to refocusing your energy and effort so that instead of being overcome by your challenges …you overcome your challenges.
When challenges come, I feel they present themselves in a neutral state.
We then show up and create a story about the challenge and frame it as hurtful or helpful, there to beat you down or build you up, there to hold you back or help you move forward, as a wall of prevention or a test of your will to prevail.
I feel (like test in school), challenges are qualifiers.
Challenges show up to qualify us to be champions, be it in a boxing ring, the political stage, the football field, the business boardroom or the classroom.
Challenges separates those who choose to be weak, from those who choose to be warriors.
That all said, whether you want to see your challenges as a speed bump to slow you down or a seed for strength to accelerate you forward… it’s all a choice of perspective.
The perspective we choose about challenges is the dictator of what comes next… a tragic defeat or a triumphant victory.
There is no place on planet earth or within this universe that you can run to and be able to escape life’s challenges.
So instead of running from them, let’s embrace them (as painful as it can be at times) for the higher purpose that they are to serve.
Your first step (or next step) for the embracing and overcoming challenges is to click here to download your free Overcoming Challenges manual.
